coming in like a lion

Happy Friday, kids!

I hope yours isn’t being spent in the throes of a Nor’Easter!

For those who are blessed enough not to know, Nor’Easter is basically just another word for “dumpster fire” in reference to weather.

When two weather systems (a chilly one from 👆 and a warm one from 👇) love each other very much, they get together and make a baby. That baby is kind of a doucher though, and wreaks havoc on “Nor-East” New England for a day or two with heaps of snow and rain, and then disappears as fast as it came in.  If you’re wondering why they don’t just call it a North-Eastern, welcome to the last 25 years of my life. 💁🏻

Typically, in New England, ever since “the October Storm” (literally a storm in October of 2011, but it was so catastrophic that everyone still has too much PTSD to know its actual name) in the early moments of bad weather you:

Fill your gas tanks.  Because that time in October when the power went out for 7+ days and there was a ginormous gas shortage and people needed their cars to charge their phones (or maybe that was just me 🙎).

Go to the grocery store.  There is a meme that floats around joking about milk, eggs and bread.  Bread sure.  Milk and eggs go bad in a power outage.  If you’re not expecting a power outage, why run to the store like you have to prepare for the armageddon?  Jury’s still out on this one.

As for me, this go-around, this welcome back to New England, sucker storm, I’m sitting in Starbucks hoping & praying that Anthony catches a train out of Boston before the city floods and runs out of power and the world ends— at least according to the weather channel.  I’m not too convinced that it will be everything they claim, and I’m even less convinced when the weather channel app and radar are saying something completely different than the news websites.  Fake news!  Ha.  (Just kidding.)

Anywho, in less anxiety-inspiring news, a very sweet fellow blogger with a gorgeous smile, Mbura, nominated me for the versatile blogger award!  Thank you so much, lady!  In the spirit of the award, I’m supposed to tell y’all seven things about me.  Today seems like the best day for this post, as it’s a nice easy topic to distract me from constantly checking the weather and the train schedule.  Because I’m nothing if not equally a professional weather debunker as I am paranoid. 💁🏻

+ I’m left-handed.  I was the only lefty in my immediate family, and so was my cousin in her’s, and my aunt in her’s.  So I always thought there was a “one lefty per family” rule.  Clearly being a lefty doesn’t necessarily make you more intelligent. 😂

+ I think people who insert the clap emoji between 👏 every 👏 word 👏 like 👏 this 👏 are some of the most inconsiderate people on the planet.  It just seems so f***ing rude.  And snotty.  And incredibly insulting.  And like your mom would spank you for that or wash your mouth out with soap back in the day.  And if someone ever did that to someone in public, I think I would lose my mind.  Luckily it seems to be a tactic reserved for the little keyboard warriors of the world. #sobrave

+ I can often be found trying to grocery shop without a basket or cart.  I walk in so confident, as I scoff at the carts all, “I don’t need that.”  Don’t worry, it’s almost instant regret followed by me, arms full of cumbersome items like paper towels and milk, running around the store looking for one of those hidden stashes of baskets made specifically for arrogant shoppers like myself.

+ Hearing sirens in traffic makes my anxiety level skyrocket.  One time in NYC with my cousin, I saw an ambulance trying to get through standstill bumper-to-bumper traffic.  I don’t even want to know how long it took them to get to the actual emergency, let alone back to the hospital.  And it wasn’t even that people weren’t letting it through… there was just nowhere for them to go.  Ever since then I’ve had an actual fear of be a contributing car in front of an emergency service vehicle unable to let it through.

+ I hate showering.  Arguably more than anything else in the world.  Besides maybe a gyno or dental appointment.  I don’t know why.  I just dread stopping what I’m doing every single day to take a shower.  Baha.  Weirdo.

+ My life has a soundtrack.  Like certain scenarios (especially driving) I actually hear music in my head like it’s a scene from a movie or something. 😂

+ I’m more religious than I used to be.  I know.. “what?” right?  Despite being kind of a whiny butthole half the time, I do spend a good amount of time praying and being more conscious of all of the blessings in my life.  I’ve always been an okay Catholic, but you could say my faith has increased quite a bit over the last few years.  Again, despite my sometimes questionable disposition.. 😂

So the rule is to nominate 15 people, but I feel like that’s kind of um, way too many.  So here’s five. 😂  Check them all out if you have a second, because every single one of these blogs leaves me better than when I got there!

Congratulations, ladies, and thank you for being fabulous! 😄

Happy Friday everyone!  Stay safe if you’re out in the storm!  If you need me I’ll be here wrestling my weather nerves for the next few hours.  If my Instagram story is suddenly radio silence, you’ll know the anxiety finally choked the life out of me. 😂

    1. You’re so welcome! I love your blog!
Oh gosh, are you further out west? Seems like west of New England is getting hammered wth snow, where it’s mostly rain and flooding towards the coast. Hope this passes soon– that warm weather was so great while it lasted!
