3 cute & affordable kitchen accessories

So this weekend we did a thing.

It was 57º and sunny– a rarity, apparently, this time of year & so the minute we were done with breakfast, Anthony and I left to go to one of the outdoor malls we hadn’t been to since 2014.

Thanks to about seven star dashes on the Starbucks app, we had two free drink rewards to use, and you know what that means….

Caramel Macchiato

As a former barista, trust me when I tell you, you are throwing away money if you either go to Starbucks without using the app, OR use a free reward on anything that isn’t larger than your normal order.  It’s free.  Treat yourself.

Teacher says, every time you use a free reward on a tall drip coffee, somewhere, a barista is forced to make s’mores frappfccinos all day with no breaks. 💁🏻

Anyway, after stopping at Starbucks, we walked around the shopping area for a good two hours and found ourselves inevitably at Crate & Barrel, and West Elm making mental notes of about seven things we will be grabbing in the future once we redo our kitchen, and once it’s warm enough (IN APRIL?!) to start using our porch!

For now though, let’s focus on the kitchen, since we will probably plan, start and finish the remodel before the darn ground even thaws, it seems.  Do I sound bitter?  It’s probably because it’s bitter cold.  All the time.  But, I digress.

Our house is a 1930s Craftsman home, but we are really looking to infuse it with some traditional, yet current updates.  Once all the those renovations are done, I can go crazy in West Elm (because, lets be real, a single napkin ring at Crate & Barrel is more expensive than my entire set of wine glasses from the dollar store 💁🏻) and make all of my pinteresty kitchen dreams come true.

Utility Kitchen Canisters – White • west elm • $15–39

I have been telling Anthony how much I “NEED!1!!” labeled canisters for Flour, Sugar & Coffee cluttering my counter tops for about 3.5 years now.  Back in Wisconsin, I was inches away from buying the budget-friendly cheap clear glass canisters from Walmart, but always held off due to our sheer lack of counter space.  So once we go through and add what we are hoping to be white granite countertops, you better believe I will be displaying these things immediately after.  Not to mention, don’t be fooled when you walk in how Pinteresty and expensive it is.  When I first discovered West Elm I didn’t even want to go in because I figured it was all expensive.  Nope!  They are actually super budget friendly, and I believe these canisters are currently on sale!

Copper Oil + Vinegar Set • west elm • $31

First of all.  Thank you to whomever reverted back to the color “copper.”  I love a good rose gold, but somewhere along the way, we all got lost and tricked into thinking copper was rose gold.  And yet somehow, my “rose gold” iPhone is looking a little pink.  I don’t know.  But anyway, these little buggers are marked down from $40 and they are SO. CUTE. and chic yet simple.  Do I need these?  Lol.  Nope.  Will I be adding them to cart as well?  You betcha.  Not to mention I think it’s high time I start storing basil leaves in a bowl on my counter as well… 😍

Marble Kitchen Utensil Holder • west elm • $39

Back when we got married, we didn’t register.  We basically asked for cash without asking for cash.  But once that cash enters the bank, it officially feels like a waste to buy all the things you want but don’t really need that you would have gotten for your wedding had you registered in the first place.  So if I had it to do over, I would register, and I would register for this.  I may or may not end up purchasing this guy in the future.  I definitely think I want to display our kitchen utensils on the counter as well, but I’m also kind of not into dust sitting on things that go into food.. no matter how cute they look.  So I’m personally still on the fence about this one.  But if you’re not, it’s marked down from $50!

Lordy, I can’t wait to have a white kitchen with dark cabinets.  I didn’t know this when I was younger, because Pinterest didn’t exist yet, but I do think it was my dream… ha!  Well, at least right now.  The more design options Anthony shows me, the more variety my lofty kitchen dreams seem to have.. 🤔

Next step: find a contractor.  So that I can have my accessories. 😂

Hope your hump days are warmer and sunnier than mine!

  1. Why have I not heard of this West Elm!? I must check them out asap!! I love the copper oil set, my daughter just re decorated her room and got a bunch of copper decor. She would absolutely love the copper oil set for when she gets her apartment!

    1. They are amazing! So much more affordable than stores like Crate & Barrel! (Not hating on them! Haha) Copper is so cute!! And hey, you could always buy now and gift later.. baha, don’t do that, it’s always a horrible idea when I do that. Hehehe 🙂

  2. I have to admit that my domain is the kitchen. I really love a good kitchen. Maybe it’s part of the whole loving to cook thing, but it’s so important. Looks like you have found some fun tools for the kitchen.

    1. Isn’t it cute?! And it is so much fun! Just.. kind of expensive sometimes, haha. I wish I could buy every single thing I see haha 🙂

    1. Yes! Definitely multifunctional! My kitchen is a hot mess between moving and waiting for renovations. I don’t even like to go in there, lol. 🙂

    1. Yes!!! Hahah, the only problem is I keep changing my mind for the color scheme based on different accessories lol. I’ll just leave it up to my husband in the end bahaha.
